TWILIGHT

SYNOPSIS:
Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different, never caring about or fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother Renee (Sarah Clarke) remarries and decides to move with her new husband to Florida, and Bella decides to go live with her father, Charlie (Billy Burke), in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she's ever met. Intelligent and witty, his piercing eyes see straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than any cheetah, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Most importantly, he's a vampire. Like all vampires, he's immortal. He doesn't drink human blood (they're vampire "vegetarians"), which is rare among the vampire population. Instead, they go on regular "hiking" trips, where they feed on prey such as grizzly bears and mountain lions. For Edward, Bella is the thing he has waited ninety years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. And what will they do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachel Lefevre) come into town and James sets his sights on Bella? Will true love prevail when Edward is forced to save her life and conquer his thirst? The true question is, When you can live forever, what do you live for?
MY VIEW: OH WOW!! I'm hooked on Twilight Series. I loved the books and I loved this movie. It was so well done!! Directed to the youth, but loved by big girls too. I liked that the movie was morally clean however it kept my intest with just enough romance and seductiveness. I say Yes to this one! Also the guy who plays Edward (Rob Pattinson) was born on my birthday, May 13th! (well he was born in 1986) He is a very good pianist and wrote a song and played it on the piano in the movie.

SECRET LIFE OF BEES

SYNOPSIS:
The Secret Life of Bees i set in South Carolina in 1964, this is the tale of Lily Owens a 14 year-old girl who is haunted by the memory of her late mother. To escape her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father, Lily flees with Rosaleen, her caregiver and only friend, to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother's past. Taken in by the intelligent and independent Boatwright sisters, Lily finds solace in their mesmerizing world of beekeeping.
MY VIEW: I really enjoyed this movie. We had read it earlier in our book club. Queen Latifa plays her role very well. I am impressed at how Dakota Fanning has grown in her acting abilities and just physically she has grown in young woman.

FLASH OF GENIUS

MY VIEW:
This was a well done movie! The actors played their parts well. Greg Kinnear was great in his role as was Lauren Graham. It was a true story. I found it to be a bit sad in the courts outcome in the end for the Kearns family. But he got what he ultimately wanted...the recognition that Ford was in the wrong. In August 2008 I went to the Benjamin Franklin Museum in Philadelphia, PA and saw his actual invention on display in the museum along with his story. I would give this movie a B++. Go see it...it was very good.
SYNOPSIS:
Based on the true story of college professor and part-time inventor Robert Kearns' (Greg Kinnear) long battle with the U.S. automobile industry, Flash of Genius tells the tale of one man whose fight to receive recognition for his ingenuity would come at a heavy price. But this determined engineer refused to be silenced, and he took on the corporate titans in a battle that nobody thought he could win. The Kearns were a typical 1960s Detroit family, trying to live their version of the American Dream. Local university professor Bob married teacher Phyllis (Lauren Graham) and, by their mid-thirties, had six kids who brought them a hectic but satisfying Midwestern existence. When Bob invents a device that would eventually be used by every car in the world, the Kearns think they have struck gold. But their aspirations are dashed after the auto giants who embraced Bob's creation unceremoniously shunned the man who invented it. Ignored, threatened and then buried in years of litigation, Bob is haunted by what was done to his family and their future. He becomes a man obsessed with justice and the conviction that his life's work-or for that matter, anyone's work-be acknowledged by those who stood to benefit. And while paying the toll for refusing to compromise his dignity, this everyday David will try the unthinkable: to bring Goliath to his knees.

NIGHTS IN RODANTHE

MY VIEW: OH MY GOODNESS!!! I say YES to this movie!!
Go see it!! it was very well done, not to mention it was at the beach...one of my favorite places to be!! Richard Gere and Diane Lane were perfectly casted and acted outstandingly!!
Great cinematography...The beach is the place to go for healing in the body and the mind. These two were both there doing just that and ended up healing each other.
Makes you want to go stay at the Inn!
However Richard Gere will not be there, and the Inn really does not exist on the beach, as the person I went to movies with lived there and said there is no such place. This movie gets an A+ from me!!
SYNOPSIS:
In "Nights in Rodanthe," Oscar nominee Diane Lane stars as Adrienne Willis, a woman with her life in chaos, who retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her -- a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teenaged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and a guest named Dr. Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) arrives. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience. Now, with the storm closing in, the two turn to each other for comfort and, in one magical weekend, set in motion a life-changing romance that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives.

BURN AFTER READING

MY VIEW:
OKAY....so here's what I thought of the movie...
Yes it was a dark comedy, that was pretty funny in alot of places. I thought Brad Pitt was the funniest and was excellent...and he along with George Clooney Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton all did a fantastic job of acting...as usual. I didn't care to much for John Malkovich's character. They felt it neccessary for him to constantly use the "F" word through out the movie...I hated it...not funny!! I also was dumbfounded at the way the movie ended. The ending made me sorry for even seeing the movie at all. Very stupid ending...again....not even funny!! There was absolutely no closer to the movie, it was like someone turning off the TV right before the movie ended and your upset because you didn't get to see HOW it ended...and you just sit there and go "Huh"? What was THAT all about??? Very Bad...very bad!!!
SYNOPSIS:
Osbourne Cox (John Malkovich) is a CIA analyst who quits his job at the agency after being demoted ostensibly because of his drinking problem. He then decides to write a memoir about his life in the CIA. His wife, Katie Cox (Tilda Swinton), wants to divorce Osbourne and, at the counsel of her divorce lawyer, she copies many of his personal and financial files off his computer and onto an optical disc. Katie's lover is Treasury agent Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney). The disc eventually finds its way to Hardbodies, a workout gym. An employee of the gym, Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) obtains the disc from the gym's custodian and ascertains that it contains classified government information. Along with his fellow employee Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand), he intends to use the disk to blackmail Osbourne - Linda needs the money to pay for cosmetic surgery. They call up Cox in the middle of the night, but he is not receptive. When blackmailing him fails, Linda decides to take the information to the Russian embassy. At the embassy, she hands the disk over to the Russians, promising that she will give more information afterwards. Because Linda and Chad don't have any more information, they decide to break into Cox's house.

MAMMA MIA!

MY VIEW:
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! I took all the females in my family and we had a "girl day" !!! It was wonderful to see how crazy we all still are. Luckily, we were just about the only ones in the theater as all the girls started singing out loud with the movie!! FUN!!

THE DARK KNIGHT

MY VIEW:
WOW!! this was the BEST of all the BATMAN movies I've seen!! I would have never guessed that Heath Ledger played the Joker...Job Well done!!

Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. SPACE CHIMPS

MY VIEW:
I took the grankids to see this movie. They enjoyed watching it and laughed. Only the 2 year old thought it was too long and she wanted to go home. haha!! I thought Pixar did a good job in making the movie entertaining for the kids. Cute movie!

SYNOPSIS:
Three NASA chimps are sent to a galaxy far, far away. Two have 'The Right Stuff,' and the other, a good natured goofball, has 'The Wrong Stuff.' They find themselves on a strange, uncharted planet, where they embark on a fantastical journey to save its inhabitants from a tyrannical leader.

HANCOCK

MY VIEW:
Well...once again the critics were wrong about this one too. I thought it was a good movie! I laughed all through the movie.

Will Smith had some great one liners. Great acting and great photography, Pretty good Movie actually! There were a few scenes in the movie that a little corny looking but over all...I would see it again!

SYNOPSIS:
There are heroes... there are superheroes... and then there's Hancock. With great power comes great responsibility -- everyone knows that -- everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet -- and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary, insists that he's a lost cause.

LES MISERABLES

MY VIEW:

We went to the Walnut Street Theater to see this play. It was excellent! We saw it in NYC a few years ago and I loved it then also. The cast here in Philly was fantastic and did a wonderful job putting on quite a show.
SYNOPSIS:
This is the story of the peasant Jean Valjean—unjustly imprisoned, baffled by destiny, and hounded by his nemesis, the magnificently realized, ambiguously malevolent police detective Javert. As Valjean struggles to redeem his past, we are thrust into the teeming underworld of Paris with all its poverty, ignorance, and suffering. Just as cruel tyranny threatens to extinguish the last vestiges of hope, rebellion sweeps over the land like wildfire, igniting a vast struggle for the democratic ideal in France.

WALL - E

MY VIEW:

I took kids to see this movie and LOVED IT!! it was another Disney Special for the summer!! The kids really enjoyed it too. I kind of liked the idea of booking 5 year vacations without having to do ANYTHING!! EVERYTHING IS DONE FOR YOU!! Instead, I go watch it at the movies. Great flick for summer for the kids!!

SYNOPSIS:
What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? EVE comes to realize that WALL*E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL*E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets an adventure into motion. Joining WALL*E on his journey across the universe is a cast of characters including a pet cockroach and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots

KUNG FU PANDA

MY VIEW:
I went to see this with my grandson, Tayvon. It was a cute movie for the kids. Tay was ready to leave before it was over. He said it was just too long. Panda learned a good lesson but for the age group in the theater that I went to the kids were a bit to young to see the lesson learned by Panda. It was entertaining.
SYNOPSIS:
Po (Jack Black) is a panda who works in a noodle restaurant owned by his goose father Mr. Ping (James Hong). He is a kung fu fanatic with secret dreams of becoming a great master in the discipline, however his weight and clumsiness seem to make his goal unattainable; Mr. Ping hopes instead that Po will one day take over the restaurant.
The tortoise Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) has a premonition that the evil snow leopard warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane), the former student of his own protégé, the red panda Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), will escape from prison and return to threaten the Valley of Peace. While Shifu sends Zeng (Dan Fogler), a messenger goose, to Chorh-Gom Prison to have the security increased, Oogway orders a formal ceremony to choose the mighty Dragon Warrior who can defeat Tai Lung. Everyone assumes that one of the Furious Five — Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu), and Crane (David Cross) — a quintet of supremely skilled martial artists trained by Shifu, will be chosen for this honor.

SEX AND THE CITY

MY VIEW:
This was a good girlfriends movie. Take yours and leave the kids home...it's not for kids! I laughed at the funny ways the girls tried to work out issues. You can see relationships work out after trials. Loved the penthouse she got and all the clothes!! I loved the giant closet that was built for her too!! I want one like that!! penthouse attached would be nice...and the nice skinny body to fit in such fashions and shoes!!
SYNOPSIS:
After moving in together in an impossibly beautiful New York apartment, Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big make a rather arbitrary decision to get married. The wedding itself proves to be anything but a hasty affair--the guest list quickly blooms from 75 to 200 guests, and Carrie's simple, label-less wedding gown gives way to an enormous creation that makes her look like a gigantic cream puff. An upcoming photo spread in Vogue puts the event--which will take place at the New York Public Library--squarely in the public eye. Meanwhile, Carrie's girlfriends--Samantha, the sexpot; Charlotte, the sweet naïf; and Miranda, the rigid perfectionist--could not be happier.

A FAREWELL TO ARMS 1932

My View:

Another afternoon at the Silver Screen showing of "A Farewell to Arms" starring Gary Cooper (Fredrick)and Helen Hayes (Catherine) filmed in 1932. Although this movie was filmed in WWI times you have to remember this movie was a love story between Fredrick and Catherine. Well done too! I was the youngest one in the afternoon matinee. I love these old movies. I had read this book but never seen the movie so it was a treat for me! I enjoyed the movie. With these older movies it's kind of funny to see how the technology of filming a movie has come such a long way since they were made. The movie was entertaining, I got wrapped up in the story line but just know that the book by Ernest Hermingway tells more.

Synopsis:

Make no mistake, this is a love story, not a war movie. It is a love story set in the midst of World War I and it takes place in Italy and Switzerland. Not only do the images set the scene for this film but the actors make a love story unfold in the midst of the terrible taking place. Helen Hayes is a stand out in her role as the nurse from Great Britain. Gary Cooper has never been more handsome and charming as an American Ambulance driver. Their romance and struggle to be together are poignant and convincing. Gary Cooper has a marvelous friendship with a doctor played by Adolphe Menjou and some touching scenes with a priest portrayed by Jack Larue. Time has been kind to this movie which goes beyond era and place and develops its characters and story well enough so that they transcend the 1932 style of making films and the WWI setting to shine in a classic movie for any age. This movie was directed by Frank Bozarge and it won a well deserved Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

GET SMART

MY VIEW:
If you are old enough to remember the old TV show Get Smart, then you will enjoy this movie even more than if you hadn't seen the the original TV show. It was well done. There were some incredible stunt doubles that were great! I laughed throughout the entire movie. Anne Hathaway was perfect in her role. Dwayne Johnson always makes me laugh. It was a funny movie...go see it and have a good laugh!
SYNOPSIS:
When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell), who has always dreamt of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson). Smart is partnered instead with the only other agent whose identity has not been compromised: the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway).

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

MY VIEW:
Many told me not to waste my money on this movie. Glad I didn't listen to them! If you are an INDY fan or have at least seen the last 3 Indy movies, I don't think you'll be bored with movie #4. There was plenty of action in the movie, some a bit unbelieveable but I mostly credit that to Spielbergs awesome imagination
Cate Blanchett: played her role very well. Indy didn't care for her to well as she was played the rold of a Soviet Villianess, trying to play "Mind Games" if you will with Indy to try and get him to do as she tells him. Thinking she could read Indy's mind and would be able to have control over him. Then soon they the Soviets could control the world. I found the movie entertaining. I laughed once again at the one liners that Indy throws about. The hat nor the whip were forgotten in this movie. It was true to Indy character but I could see in this movie that maybe Harrison Ford was growing a bit aged and doing all the stunts he used to do didn't happen much for him this movie. Well...reality is, HE IS AGING!! I think younger audiences will enjoy this movie who like stunts and action!! BUT watch out for those human eating ants in the AMAZON!!
"This episode may mark the end of the line for Mr. Ford in the title role even though he still performs stunts in a most impressive fashion. But young Shia Labeouf-- who shows up looking like the young Marlon Brando --appears ready to take over the franchise. And it was good to see Karen Allen again in her role as Indy's long lost girlfriend even though her part was definitely underwritten.
As for Spielberg himself, who knows? You'll notice echoes of many of his most famous movies in this one. But I doubt that's a sign that he's running out of creative energy". (by:Terry Hunter)
SYNOPSIS:
Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.
Spielberg thought he was finished with the character when he had Indy ride off into the sunset eighteen years ago, but he says that all over the world, people kept asking him if he was going to make another Indiana Jones movie. With the prospect of making plenty of money and pleasing lots of people, he couldn't resist. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" cost about 185 million dollars to make, but it earned around 150 million during its first five days in theaters.

TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY

MY VIEW:
I went to the movie with my girlfriend to the RITZ theater . On Mondays they have SLIVER SCREEN DAY, (old Black and White movies) It cost me $2.00 admission and I got a free popcorn and drink! This was too good of a deal to pass up!
I really enjoyed this movie. It was a wonderful storyline with many cameo appearances by well known actors and actresses.
I love the old movies mostly because they are uplifting and clean movies to watch. I especially like the musical types.
SYNOPSIS:
Beginning on December 27, 1927 with the opening night of Kern's masterpiece Show Boat, the film flashes back in time to the 'early days' with Kern (Robert Walker) a struggling songwriter, receiving platitudinous counsel from earnest Van Heflin who implores him not to waste his time on 'little tunes' but to 'think big.' Which is exactly what the aspiring composer does, going from one success to another, marrying along the way and, at one point, offering advice of his own to Heflin's stagestruck daughter (Lucille Bremer) who throws a tantrum when a number he has written for her is given to Marilyn Miller (Judy Garland) instead."- Clive Hirschhorn, The Hollywood Musical

BABY MAMA

MY VIEW:

I Loved this movie! It was just FUNNY!! The acting was well done and I think that as a mother you can relate to alot of it from the "being pregnant" point. The Lamaze instructor was "wather" funny too! But Seriously which would you prefer? EVOO or PAM?It was filmed in Philadelphia just across the Delaware river from me in NJ. It got a thumbs up from me, I would say grab your girlfriend, leave the kids home and have a girl date...movie and lunch. I dare you NOT to laugh!!

SYNOPSIS:

Kate Holbrook (Tina Fey), a successful single businesswoman from Philadelphia, has put her career before her personal life. At the age of 37, she has finally decided to have a child on her own, but her plans change when she discovers she has only the slimmest chance of becoming pregnant. Also denied adoption, Kate gets a South Philly working girl, Angie Ostrowski (Amy Poehler), to become a surrogate mom.
When Angie becomes pregnant, Kate begins preparing for motherhood in her own typically driven fashion—until her surrogate shows up at her door with no place to live. Their conflicting personalities put them at odds as Kate learns first-hand about balancing motherhood and career by catering to Angie's childish needs. As if this weren't enough Kate also begins dating the local owner of a blended juice cafe.
What Kate doesn't know is that Angie is feigning the pregnancy and that in fact the in-vitro fertilization did not succeed. Hoping to ultimately run off with her payment, Angie begins to regret the lie but continually puts off confessing until getting an ultrasound wherein she discovers she is actually pregnant. Realizing the baby is her own (and her boyfriend's), Angie is forced to confess at her own baby shower. This unsurprisingly drives a wedge between the two women.
At the court hearing to definitively determine the maternity of the child, Angie makes an impassioned apology. The baby turns out to be Angie's. Meeting face to face after the proceedings, Angie's water breaks and Kate rushes her to the hospital. During Angie's delivery, Kate passes out. Upon waking she is told that she has become pregnant, the result of her relationship with her new beau.
Ultimately remaining friends, Angie and Kate raise their children together.

THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL

MY VIEW:

I enjoyed this movie. The acting was wonderful and the storyline was consistant. I read this book earlier and I also enjoy watching The Tudors on Showtime on the TV. I didn't find this to be only a chick flick but one that men enjoyed too. It's a historical drama type movie. I think I would have to give it a better rating than the critics gave it. I give it a B+ for a movie well done.

SYNOPSIS:

Two sisters, Anne and Mary Boleyn, are driven by their ambitious Father and Uncle to advance the family's power and status by courting the affections of the King of England. Leaving behind the simplicity of country life, the girls are thrust into the dangerous and thrilling world of court life--and what began as a bid to help their family develops into a ruthless rivalry between Anne and Mary for the love of the King. Initially, Mary wins King Henry's favor and becomes his mistress, bearing him two illegitimate children. But Anne, clever, conniving and fearless, edges aside both her sister and Henry's wife, Queen Katherine of Aragon, in her relentless pursuit of the King. Despite Mary's genuine feelings for Henry, her sister Anne has her sights set on the ultimate prize; Anne will not stop until she is Queen of England. As the Boleyn girls battle for the love of a King--one driven by ambition, the other by true affection--England is torn apart.

88 MINTUES

MY VIEW:
WOW! This movie tuned out to be better than I thought it would be. It was suspenseful! I usually don't like to watch these types of movies but this was pretty good actually. It got a little bloody in some places so I would not recommend this for younger people.
The acting was fantastic! I thought Al Pacino as usual was wonderful. (of course I will forever be a Michael Corleone fan so I'm a little biased) He was on a talk show promoting this movie and he said that he was getting to be an old man and they really had him running in this movie. Well for an old man he ran well.
~Katherine~
SYNOPSIS:
Al Pacino stars as Dr. Jack Gramm, a college professor who moonlights as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI. When Gramm receives a death threat claiming he has only 88 minutes to live, he must use all his skills and training to narrow down the possible suspects, who include an angry student, a jilted former lover, and a serial killer who is already on death row, before his time runs out.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

MY VIEW: Again regardless of what others have said about this movie being dull, I have to disagree. I thought the movie was funny and good actually. It told a nice story about Miss Pettigrew who was down on her luck and how a little sneakyness
It was exciting to see Miss Pettigrew find friendship and love among a whole new social society of people. I thought she deserved a day in the life of the Rich and Famous.
Both actresses and actors were fabulous. Job well done for the time era in England they portrayed. ~Katherine~
SYNOPSIS:
In 1939 London, Miss Guinevere Pettigrew (played by Ms. McDormand) is a middle-aged governess who finds herself once again unfairly dismissed from her job. Without so much as severance pay, Miss Pettigrew realizes that she must for the first time in two decades seize the day. This she does, by intercepting an employment assignment outside of her comfort level as social secretary. Arriving at a penthouse apartment for the interview, Miss Pettigrew is catapulted into the glamorous world and dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse (Ms. Adams). Within minutes, Miss Pettigrew finds herself swept into a heady high-society milieu and, within hours, living it up. Taking the social secretary designation to heart, she tries to help her new friend Delysia navigate a love life and career, both of which are complicated by the three men in Delysias orbit; devoted pianist Michael (Mr. Pace), intimidating nightclub owner Nick (Mr. Strong), and impressionable junior impresario Phil (Mr. Payne). Miss Pettigrew herself is blushingly drawn to the gallant Joe (Mr. Hinds), a successful designer who is tenuously engaged to haughty fashion maven Edythe (Ms. Henderson) the one person who senses that the new social secretary may be out of her element, and schemes to undermine her. Over the next 24 hours, Guinevere and Delysia will empower each other to discover their romantic destinies.

LEATHERHEADS

MY VIEW:
I enjoyed this movie. It was funny with just enough romance and bar brawling to keep it all together. George Clooney and his famous boyish smile, once again brings great acting to the table. Rene Zellweger was excellent as always. I loved her quick comebacks, and being a girl who loves the fashion world, I loved her wardrobe and hats. Great make up job too! She plays her part well. It was interesting to see what a Leatherhead was. I don't think those "helmets" would work in todays football games, nor would our boys today play in the mud as did the leatherheads in 1920. This movie gets my thumbs up! ~ Katherine
SYNOPSIS:

Oscar® winners George Clooney and Renée Zellweger match wits in Leatherheads, a quick-witted romantic comedy set against the backdrop of America's nascent pro-football league in 1925. Clooney plays Dodge Connolly, a charming, brash football hero who is determined to guide his team from bar brawls to packed stadiums. But after the players lose their sponsor and the entire league faces certain collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star to join his ragtag ranks. The captain hopes his latest move will help the struggling sport finally capture the country's attention. Welcome to the team Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski), America's favorite son. A golden-boy war hero who single-handedly forced multiple German soldiers to surrender in WWI, Carter has dashing good looks and unparalleled speed on the field. This new champ is almost too good to be true, and Lexie Littleton (Zellweger) aims to prove that's the case. A cub journalist playing in the big leagues, Lexie is a spitfire newswoman who suspects there are holes in Carter's war story. But while she digs, the two teammates start to become serious off-field rivals for her fickle affections. As the new game of pro-football becomes less like the freewheeling sport he knew and loved, Dodge must both fight to keep his guys together and to get the girl of his dreams. Finding that love and football have a surprisingly similar playbook, however, he has one maneuver he will save just for the fourth quarter... --© Universal Pictures

10000 BC

MY VIEW: The previews led me to believe this was going to be a really good movie! Let me see if I can describe this movie in one word....uhmmmm.....uuuhhhh....let's see....Oh Yes!! how about
DUH? Omar Sheriff did the narration and it was very good actually as far as narration goes. But overall, I think I have to give this movie a thumbs down. It moved pretty slowly I thought. It was hard to stay awake all the way through it too. Of course going to the 10pm show at night doesn't help any either!
SYNOPSIS:
Mammoth hunter D'Leh (Steven Strait), a member of a hunter-gatherer tribe living in 10,000 B.C., travels through unknown lands on a quest to rescue his people from extinction. Leading an army, D'Leh uncovers a now lost civilization while in pursuit of a warlord who kidnapped his love, Evolet (Camilla Belle). D'Leh and his army come face-to-face with a saber-toothed cat, woolly mammoths, and terror birds in the journey to save his people.

Vantage Point

MY VIEW: The cast was great! The directing was great! The storyline is just another story!! I'm really stretching it to give this movie a 5 on a scale of 1 -10, with 10 being outstanding!! The movie kept starting over and over giving you each players perspective on "what happen". I personally didn't like the way the movie ended either. I think it could have ended better. It wasn't a 'bad' movie but it's also one I don't think I'll watch again either. That's just MY view...
SYNOPSIS: The movie begins in a TV-news remote trailer in Salamanca, Spain, where the hassled, blinkered executive producer (Sigourney Weaver) is trying to steer live coverage of a peace summit toward bland bromides and away from the anti-U.S. demonstrations on the periphery of the event. Once the assassins' shots hit their human target and a large bomb disperses the crowd, the movie flashes back 23 mins. and starts all over again, in be-kind-rewind fashion, and we get the perspectives of President Ashton (William Hurt), two of his Secret Service bodyguards (Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox), an American tourist bystander (Forest Whitaker) and a few of the terrorists as they develop their scheme and attempt their escape.

JUNO

MY VIEW: I found this movie to be a good movie but a bit "dorky" for lack of a better word. The youth could totally relate I'm sure. The 16 year old was a lot more mature for her age and handled her decisions pretty well. I think I would have cast different people to play some of the characters but over all it was a good movie.

SYNOPSIS: Sixteen year-old Juno MacGuff is the type of girl that beats to her own drummer, and doesn't really care what others may think of her. She learns that she's pregnant from a one-time sexual encounter with her best friend, Paulie Bleeker. Juno and Paulie like each other, but don't consider themselves to be exclusive boyfriend/girlfriend let alone be ready to be a family complete with child. Although she would rather not be pregnant, Juno is fairly pragmatic about her situation. Although there, Paulie really leaves all the decisions about the baby to Juno. Initially she decides that she will have an abortion, but that's something that she ultimately cannot go through with. So she decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. The next step is to find prospective parents for the yet unborn child. In the Pennysaver ad section, Juno finds Mark and Vanessa Loring, a yuppie couple living in the suburbs. Juno likes the Lorings, and in some respects has found who looks to be a kindred spirit in Mark, with whom she shares a love of grunge music and horror films. Vanessa is a little more uptight and is the one in the relationship seemingly most eager to have a baby. On her own choosing, Juno enters into a closed rather than open adoption contract with the Lorings - meaning she will have no contact with the baby after she gives it up.....see the movie to find out what actually happen!!

THE ATONEMENT

MY VIEW: I personally thought the movie was well done. It was a sad movie. Keira Knightley(Cecilia) and James McAvoy(Robbie) were cast perfectly to the characters they played. There was an enduring love between them. He hung onto her love with letters she had sent while he was at war. She, who comes from such wealth ends up in a little flat in England. This has an "R" rating. There were some parts that were a bit gory when they showed wounded men in the hospital that just came from the war. There was language, again from soldiers, and there was a bit of sexual content between these two lead characters. I have to say as much as I read books, I liked the movie alot better than the book.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: In 1935, 13-year-old fledgling writer Briony Tallis and her family live a life of wealth and privilege in their enormous mansion. On the warmest day of the year, the country estate takes on an unsettling hothouse atmosphere, stoking Briony's vivid imagination. Robbie Turner, the educated son of the family's housekeeper, carries a torch for Briony's headstrong older sister Cecilia. Cecilia, he hopes, has comparable feelings; all it will take is one spark for this relationship to combust. When it does, Briony -- who has a crush on Robbie -- is compelled to interfere, going so far as accusing Robbie of a crime he did not commit. Cecilia and Robbie declare their love for each other, but he is arrested -- and with Briony bearing false witness, the course of three lives is changed forever. Briony continues to seek forgiveness for her childhood misdeed. Through a terrible and courageous act of imagination, she finds the path to her uncertain atonement, and to an understanding of the power of enduring love.

THE BUCKET LIST

MY VIEW: First of all...IGNORE what the critic say about this movie. Once again I went to see a movie that the critcs gave a low score to and saying "don't waste your time or money on it". I thought Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman gave a really good performance along with Sean Hayes, who also played a part well done. I would say GO SEE THE MOVIE, IT'S NOT A CRUMMY MOVIE!!

Jack plays a man who has a LOT of money but no friends, family or love in his life. Morgan plays a hard working black man who wanted to be a History Professor but is a mechanic. He has family and love around him. Both men are in the hospital sharing a room. They become friends and they each learn from their doctor that due to the cancer they have, each only have a short time left to live. Morgan makes a "bucket list". Things he wants to do before he kicks the bucket. Jack finds the list and adds to it and with all his wealth he talks Mogan into getting away with him and fulfilling everything on the bucket list. Jack who plays a very rich man is all to happy to fund this adventure. Morgan teaches Jack how it feels to kiss the most beautiful girl in the world. (tissue was good here)

I thought the movie was emotional, funny and had deeper thought provoking moments in it than the critics gave it the credit for. Go See It!

FOOL'S GOLD

MY VIEW: This was a fun, cute movie to watch. It's always fun to see Kate and Matthew play together. The movie also starred Donald Sutherland who played his cool self very well. This was a good clean movie...a young teen would even enjoy it!

SYNOPSIS: Ben "Finn" Finnegan is a good-natured, surf bum-turned-treasure hunter who is obsessed with finding the legendary 18th century Queen's Dowry--40 chests of exotic treasure that was lost at sea in 1715. 27 DRESSES

CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR

MY VIEW:
This was a good movie. Great performances by Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. A little eye opening...yet sad. Is this stuff really going on? This was a true movie, so maybe so!

THE GREAT DEBATERS

MY VIEW:

WOW! This was a very good movie. Denzel not only starred in this movie but he directed it also. Excellent acting, especially on the kids debut part.

A drama based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College Texas. In 1935, he inspired students to form the school's first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national championship.

WICKED

MY VIEW:
On December 27, 2007 my wonderful husband and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. He took me to New York city for a few days. We went to see this awesome play at the Gershwin Theater. It was fantastic. The acting was exquisite!
The book club I used to belong to read this book. The play was better. Well in my mind anyway. It's mostly the story of the two witches. Ga-Linda the good witch of the North, and her rival the Wicked witch of the West. I loved them both!!

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

MY VIEW:
Okay, Okay, I DO HAVE AN OBSESSION AND A PASSION FOR THIS MOVIE!! I have seen it maybe 100 times now. I LOVE the soundtrack to the movie. I didn't think I would like this movie and avoided seeing it. A friend took me and assured me I would love it! I Did! I thought the acting was done very well. Such passion for eachother. There was a chemistry between the actors which made the movie believable. I never knew who Gerard Butler was before this...I now own almost every movie he was in.
Emmy Rossum played Christine
Patrick Wilson played Roul
Gerard Butler played The Phantom
This was a sad story of the life of the Phantom and his love for a girl he could never win.
I cried when I read the book and I cried when I saw this movie.

I think I would rank this as my favorite .....I give it a 10!

....now how can I meet this Gerard Butler guy?????....... LOL!! "Tsst!!"
